Garden of Eden

I was never one for getting dirt under my fingernails and trying to coax seeds to pop through the ground, but.....
it sure is fun to stroll into the yard and pick a "salad"---endive, yellow and red tomatoes, sweet peppers and fresh herbs.....Now I know what they mean by "farm-fresh."
And, the flowers sure make you smile just to see the vibrant colors:  gorgeous gladiolas ( well- those are the neighbors' but I can still gaze and they're good about sharing them), jewel-toned zinnias, black-eyed susans ( also called gloriosas...sounds much more elegant!), portulaca, alyssum, and some cheery-looking ones that look like pansies, but aren't....
David is the talent behind the garden and the worker bee......I TRY to help, but often it's best if I just cheer him on ( sometimes I can't tell weeds from seedlings when helping to weed...not good!).
So, I'll just enjoy the bounty and the beauty....

The Perfect Day

A perfect Day of sunshine, fair winds, and family to share it with...It really doesn't get much better than this!

Getting ready to follow the wind..
Megan taking a turn at the helm...good job, Megan!
Rich helping to trim sails and "standing by."
Windmills along the shore ( steel mills- site of former steel mills)

Kate:  you'll be pleased to hear that our "docking procedure" has gotten MUCH better-  no close encounters with the dock or other boats.  We missed you, sweetie!

cousins dinner

Enjoying lots of laughs; telling stories: old and new;  and keeping our "family circle" together....
Joyce was here from Albany; Pat and Cara from Columbus, Ohio; Chris from nearby Cheektowaga and the rest of us from the Southtowns.
A friend and former neighbor of Pat and Cara's was brave enough to join the hub-bub....Sharon was very nice and certainly fit right in ( and she's a sailor/racer...in fact, we race against each other on Wed nights--it's a small, small world!).
Marty hosted a post-dinner gathering at his house...thanx, Marty...
A good time was had by all !
